Red Wrappings and Purple Curiosity
A knock sounded at the door, fast and gentle. A little too fast actually. If she hadn't already been walking past the door she was sure she would have not heard it at all. Reaching for the door handle, Anyma opened the door to find not a person in sight. She almost wanted to question herself if the knock happened at all. That was till a basket handle caught her view. Sat in the middle of her doorstep was a woven straw basket with a large purple gift bow stuck atop the handle. A small paper label hung from the bow that read ‘Happy Birthday Anyma,’in bold, looping letters. Obvious signs showed it had been handwritten due to the penmanship being a bit shaky. Anyma gave the basket a cautious look over. Had to make sure this was no prank or trap, of course. If only she hadn't ask Honey to visit the shops in town for some more wiring, she'd of asked her to give it a scrub down first. Yea, she could wait for Honey to return... But her curiousity was very much peaked. She gave a half hearted shrug and grabbed the handle lifting it to eye level. Inspecting the contents of the basket. Inside the basket sat two wrapped items positioned neatly amongst a plethora of speckled down feathers that almost looked cartoonishly fake. Speckled with little white dots amongst their dark brown plumage made the wrapping of the two items pop brilliantly. An eye catching royal red with a sheen. Hm. Seemed harmless enough.. She took one last look around before walking back inside and taking a seat at her dining table. She took another look at the label. Curiously Inspecting the unrecognizable handwritting and turning it in her fingers finding no name added. 'hmmm..Mystery gift, huh?' She thought to herself. The idea didnt sit right to her. She wasn't assed to deal with some admirer looking for her approval. But hey, a gift is a gift. And to her, a victim surely was a victim~. Anyma chuckled to herself before taking out both wrapped items and setting them down infront of herself readying to choose which to open first. "Hmmmm, now which to open first~? Long 'n stout or short 'n funky? Hmm hmm hmm," She tapped her chin with a goofy hum. She waved her hand in the air, fingers tracing the air in a glide before landing on the 'longNstout'. The wrapping was fancy for sure but a bit tough to rip. It was a bit of a disappointment but Anyma couldnt help but enjoy the smooth texture between her fingertips. Once the wrapping was gone a look of intrigue flashed over her mask. Seems someone did their homework as she looked over the brand new bundle of Shibari rope that seemed to shine amongst her dining room lighting. The rope was a royal purple with soft, rubber aglits adorned at the tips. It surely was a fine rope grade. Surely not cheap she noted. This would definitely come in handy roping up whoever had decided to gift it in the first place. She was almost giddy wanting to start trying to find the culprit. But alas, there was still one gift left. So she set aside the rope back amongst the feather-bedded basket, and began picking at the wrappings edges. The first thing Anyma noticed was the familiar whaft of a brand new bag of coffee. Sure enough the bound bag came to view as soon as the top came visible and Anyma couldn't help but chuckle. "BattyBean coffee, huh? How curious~," She amused, subconsciously narrowing down the pool of folk she knew that had an idea she enjoyed the American brand of coffee. Not many knew about her favorite brand, but she had to mull over the possibility that, just maybe, the choice was only a coincidence. As she took out the coffee bag she noticed a small note tapped to the bag’s middle. ‘I decided to get this made for you! There just wasnt any other mug that seemed right to give.. I do hope you like it ^U^!!'. Well this surely threw a wrench into the people she had lined up in her head as the possible gift-givers. None of them would write this way, And the text emote face was unique in itself. What a mystery this was becoming, she’d definitely have to get on this case as soon as she felt bothered to. But, so, it seemed the gift was a bit spoiled. A mug it was then? Made sense with the addition of the coffee bag. She had plenty of those thanks to her addiction but there was no harm in giving it a look over. I mean, it’s not everyday someone makes you a custom made mug. Taking the morsel into her hands, the rest of the wrapping was swiftly peeled away…. The mug looked as if it was hand crafted to perfection. Not a crack nor imperfection could be found in the ceramic molding. The inside was painted a soft shade of lavender near identical to her own hair. And replacing the traditional handle was a carefully crafted, ceramic feather with gold paint lining along the feather’s spine. Anyma ran a finger along the molded bristles. They looked almost sharp and uncomfortable to hold. But to her surprise the hold was quite comfortable in her slender fingers, smooth to the touch~. >Fin< -------------- This is my gift to a very special Birthday Girl>W> Anyma belongs to the ever so amazing @HomunculusLover 💖 my dear friend >W
